Yes. You invite someone and they choose whether to accept, and once they do they are in your circle and can receive your alerts. Nobody is added without agreeing to it, on either side.

Invite as many people as you want. There is no limit. These are the friends, family members, partners and classmates you would want with you if you felt uncomfortable or unsafe.

That depends on how they want to use the app. The free version is for someone who is part of your circle and just wants to be there to help you.

A subscription is for you: it is what unlocks the digital witness, the proactive heatmap, discreet activation and your vault.

Your location is what puts your circle on the heatmap, so you can see how far away help is before you walk into a situation like a date or a party. That is a generalized location: you see roughly where they are, and they see roughly where you are.

During an alert your circle is sent your exact location and the route to reach you.

We recommend allowing OurPwr access to your location always, because that is what makes the heatmap accurate, but you can choose the permissions that suit you.

If you are supporting other people in your circle, the app is free to download. If you want to use it for your own safety and unlock discreet activation, the digital witness, your circle and the rest, there are a number of subscription options to choose from. Founding Member pre-orders start at $50 a year.

Yes, through this website. A unique code is sent to you and to the person you are giving it to, so their subscription is free for the length of time you bought it for.

Yes. We offer three and four year subscription packages for students.

It is coming soon. The iPhone version is first, and Android follows. We will let you know when it launches.

On a newer iPhone the app is triggered from the action button while the phone is locked, and the button has to be held down rather than tapped, which is what stops a pocket or a handbag from starting anything.

If it does go off, you can cancel the alert in the app straight away, and the people who hear about it are the friends and family you chose. A false alarm costs you a text to a group chat, not an emergency response you have to explain. That is deliberate. A safety app you are afraid of triggering is a safety app you will not use.

No. On the setting the app starts on, your alert goes to the people in your circle and nowhere else. No service is contacted from the app.

You can ask the people in your circle to call the police on your behalf. That call stays a decision a person makes, not something the app does for you.

It goes to your vault on our cloud and it stays there. You decide whether it goes to a friend, to a lawyer, to a campus office or to nobody at all. You can delete it or download it to your phone. Nothing is sent out of your vault on your behalf.

It is legal to record a dangerous situation to collect evidence. Laws differ by state and province, so check ours in the resource directory and verify locally. It is not legal to post evidence captured in the app on social media in order to obtain money.

Yes. OurPwr takes your privacy and your data very seriously.

Yes. The app works with the people in your own circle even if your school is not a partner yet. University partnerships add campus security as somewhere your alert can also reach, along with resources tailored to that campus.
